TADA-UK Statement on 4th year Commemoration of Tigrayan Genocide in Ethiopia
03/11/2024
The Tigray Advocacy and Development Association in the United Kingdom (TADAUK.ORG) pays tribute to the courageous Tigrayan martyrs who bravely fought against the genocidal alliance of Ethiopia, Eritrea, Amhara Regional State and all the foreign forces that committed genocide in Tigray.
These heroes and heroines were not solely motivated by love for their land and people but also by the horrifying realities they witnessed, such as their sisters and mothers enduring horrors, their land forcibly seized, and their young ones being victims of extrajudicial violence. The malevolent forces sought to eradicate not only the people of Tigray but also their culture, history, and existence.
The martyrs’ unwavering determination to protect their loved ones and homeland from genocide symbolised their defiance against the annihilation of their heritage and future prospects. Their sacrifice has resonated globally, triggering an outcry for justice, humanitarian intervention, and a peace agreement. Their extraordinary courage serves as a testament to the remarkable potential of individuals to become heroes and heroines for their people, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.
As we come together today, let us mourn their irreplaceable loss and commemorate their enduring legacy. We commit to championing justice and peace, tirelessly rebuilding our beloved Tigray, and upholding human rights principles.
May their souls find eternal peace, and may their memory forever kindle the flames of unity against oppression and brutality. We pay tribute to our martyrs who reminded us that the indomitable human spirit can rise undeterred to confront injustice.
